Tidepooling

A day in the life of a del norte resident can start with a journey to the sea at low tide. Picking through the black rocks can reveal an abundance of sea life. The aquatic bull whip seaweed washes up on shore. As you walk along the sand sometimes on warm days you can feel the sand fleas hopping around your feet. The sand I fine but a mix of lighter and darker patterns creates a splendor of colors to marvel at. As you approach the pools look for the hermit crabs. They take up residence in vacant snail shells. Good places to try are the foot of Battery Point lighthouse or some places on Pebble Beach drive.
